چکیده

Outsourcing of Information Technology (IT) is a common practice in global business today. IT Outsourcing (ITO) refers to the contracting out of IT services (or functions) with the objective of achieving strategic advantages as well as cost benefits. Recently, many IT industries are facing daunting challenges in terms of healthy alliances on their ITO strategy due to existence of inherent risks. These risks must be recognized and properly managed towards successful establishment of effective ITO strategy. Therefore, risk assessment appears to be an important contributor to the success of an ITO venture. In this paper, a hierarchical ITO risk structure representation has been explored to develop a formal model for qualitative risk assessment. The basic parameters for defining risks have been presented including the metrics for measuring likelihood and impact that aid to achieve consistent assessment. An improved decision making method using fuzzy set theory has been attempted for converting linguistic data into numeric risk ratings. In this study, the concept of ‘Incentre of centroids method’ for generalized trapezoidal fuzzy numbers has been used to quantify the ‘degree of risk’ in terms of crisp ratings. Finally, a framework for categorizing different risk factors has been proposed on the basis of distinguished ranges of risk ratings (crisp). Consequently, an action requirement plan has been suggested for providing guidelines for the managers to successfully manage the risk in the context of ITO exercise. 2013 Elsevier Ltd. A New Extended Analytical Hierarchy Process Technique with Incomplete Interval-valued Information for Risk Assessment in IT Outsourcing

Information technology (IT) outsourcing has been recognized as a new methodology in many organizations. Yet making an appropriate decision with regard to selection and use of these methodologies may impose uncertainties and risks. Estimating the occurrence probability of risks and their impacts organizations goals may reduce their threats. In this study, an extended analytical hierarchical proc...

A new approach to rank the decision making units in presence of infeasibility in intuitionistic fuzzy environment

Data envelopment analysis (DEA) is a linear programming based methodology to determine the relative performance efficiencies of homogeneous decision making units (DMUs). In real world applications, some input and output datas do not possess crisp/fuzzy essence but they possess intuitionistic fuzzy (IF) essence. So, in this study, we develop an IF BCC (IFBCC) and an IF super efficiency BCC (IFSE...

Assessment of distance-based multi-attribute group decision-making methods from a maintenance strategy perspective

Maintenance has been acknowledged by industrial management as a significant influencing factor of plant performance. Effective plant maintenance can be realized by developing a proper maintenance strategy. However, selecting an appropriate maintenance strategy is difficult because maintenance is a non-repetitive task such as production activity. Maintenance also does not leave a consistent trac...

A Multi-Criteria Decision-Making Approach with Interval Numbers for Evaluating Project Risk Responses

The risk response development is one of the main phases in the project risk management that has major impacts on a large-scale project’s success. Since projects are unique, and risks are dynamic through the life of the projects, it is necessary to formulate responses of the important risks. Conventional approaches tend to be less effective in dealing with the imprecise of the risk response deve...
